Hi, my name is Steve Ehrhardt. Currently I live in Lebanon, Missouri but manage the day-to-day operations of our St. Robert/Ft. Leonard Wood hotels. My father Spike and I are partners in a company we call "Ehrhardt Properties". Spike lives in Hannibal, Missouri. He oversees several other family businesses including Hardee's Restaurants, office buildings, and other hotels. His passion is developing new projects and watching them grow. Spike began his entrepreneur career in the early 1960's, when he became a partner in several Sandy's Restaurants, which were bought out by Hardee's in the early 1970's. At one time, our family owned and operated over 70 restaurants in Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa. In 1997, we decided to sell the majority of the Hardee's and focus more on hospitality opportunities.
Ehrhardt Properties was established in 1995, with the purchase of the Brentwood Motel in Lebanon, Missouri. The Brentwood is an old-style highway motel with outside entrances. In 1959, it was the first motel in Lebanon built along the newly constructed Interstate 44. The Brentwood still exists today and has been leased by another individual. We had no idea the purchase of this motel would be just the beginning of many more great opportunities!
In 1998, we took interest in the Fort Leonard Wood area. During this time, it was announced that the Fort McClellan Army Post in Alabama would be relocating the training schools to Fort Leonard Wood. This move would create much demand for lodging facilities to accommodate the many families traveling to the area for graduations and military activities.
In February 1999, we opened the 70 room Comfort Inn, which is a member of Choice Hotel family of brands. In addition to the most modern amenities, this unique "Rustic Lodge" look property boosts a cozy two-story lobby with a stone fireplace. Since opening, the Comfort Inn has received the prestigious "Gold Award" 5 years consecutively. The award is given only to the top 10 percent of all the Comfort Inns, recognizing the best operations based on guest services, cleanliness, and commitment to excellence!
During October 2000, we opened our second hotel in St. Robert. The Hampton Inn is a member of Hilton, which offers numerous membership perks that have created a loyal following. Located next door to our Comfort Inn, this 81 room hotel and conference facility features a "French County Décor". The Conference Center accommodates up to 150 people for meetings and banquets. The Hampton Inn has been honored as an "Outstanding" property, ranking in the top 10 percent of all Hampton Inns. It has proven to be an excellent addition to our hotel family!
Our Fairfield Inn, a member of Marriot Hotels, was purchased in October 2002. This 80 room property opened in the Spring of 1998. It was the first new hotel in the area since the early 1990's. The Fairfield Inn was fully remodeled in early 2004, featuring spacious guestrooms, well lit desks, and the most modern amenities. We are currently a "White Diamond" property, ranking in the top 10 percent of all Fairfield Inns!
Candlewood Suites is an Intercontinental Hotel Group hotel which is our fourth property in St. Robert/Fort Leonard Wood. It was the first extended stay property in the area featuring a complete kitchen in every one of the 74 rooms. Built to accommodate guests staying weeks at a time, this hotel also features a business center, free guest laundry, an over-sized fitness center and the "Candlewood Cupboard", a convenience store inside of the hotel!
Our fifth hotel in the market opened July 2005. The MainStay Suites, a Choice Hotel, is an extended stay hotel with fully equipped kitchens in every room. This hotel showcases an outdoor pool and seating area. We are thrilled with this new addition to our company!
All five of our properties are located in the newest development along St. Robert Boulevard. Restaurants and shopping are within walking distance of all our properties. Fort Leonard Wood is only three short miles from our front doors. All properties are superior brands offering the latest of amenities. High speed internet was added to every guest room in 2004. Our goal is to be the first choice of all travelers to our area.
